Using slides and images, this presentation will highlight the naval warships that were employed during the Red River Campaign, the Union's failed attempt to capture Shreveport, Louisiana, in the spring of 1864. Learn about the capabilities and specifications of these 19th century vessels and compare them with naval ships of today. How these warships were used during the campaign and their fate afterward will also be discussed.
