Founded in 1902, Grand Cane is a thriving preserved home of the first accredited public high school in the state. Grand Cane has become the art and live theater center of DeSoto Parish.  In September 2009, Grand Cane was designated  one of only forty four cultural districts in the State of Louisiana.  The DeSoto Arts Council established the DeSoto Arts Gallery in the historic Hicks-Richardson Co. building.  The Gallery showcases original works of art for viewing and many available for purchases.  The Back Alley Theatre is also located in the Cultural District and is a popular destination for patrons of each of the many seasonal productions.

Village Cuisine Cafe  accommodates production events by pairing dinner with the shows while the nearby Cook-Hill Bed & Breakfast is available for weary travelers that want to stay a while.

The Village of Grand Cane is dedicated to keeping the presence of “Yesteryear” as a constant reminder of the importance of preserving the past for future generations.

Grand Cane is located on Highway 171, 30 miles south of Shreveport, Louisiana.  It’s a fun afternoon for shopping and dining or extend your stay and tour the historic churches, and scenic back roads.  SHOPS & BUSINESSES LOCATED IN HISTORIC GRAND CANE
