FISHING AND OUTDOORS

Considered a “diamond in the forest”, DeSoto Parish is all about the outdoors.  There are beautiful piney woods to explore, hike, bike, ATV, and go birding.  Fishing enthusiasts will find plenty of largemouth bass, white bass, sandbass, crappie, bream, catfish and other freshwater varieties.  Along with the state’s longest shooting range, DeSoto is also home to a portion of the top bass fishing lakes in the country, Toledo Bend Lake.  Other area hotspots include Sabine River and Bayou Pierre Lake.  There are 3 noted boat launches as well as places to stay near the Logansport riverfront.
